This Privacy Policy explains how The Soma Script LLC ("The Soma Script," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit thesomascript.com, contact us by email, use our browser-based tools, or purchase or receive products through outside checkout, retailer, payment, or delivery services (collectively, the "Site").
This Policy applies to personal information handled directly by The Soma Script and to the local functions of the Site described below. Outside platforms and services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.
1. Who We Are
The Soma Script LLC is a Wyoming limited liability company associated with Max Theodor, Edge to Path, and related publishing and educational work. The Soma Script LLC is the business responsible for personal information covered by this Policy.

2. The Current Site in Plain Language
The current Site is designed to collect as little information as practical:
- The Site does not use advertising pixels, behavioral advertising, or cross-site tracking.
- The Soma Script does not currently use a third-party audience analytics service on the Site.
- The Site does not currently offer user accounts or an email newsletter signup.
- Contact takes place through ordinary email at the address above.
- The Breath tool and the Field Guide companion app run in the visitor's browser or installed web app. Settings, entries, patterns, and session activity used by those tools are stored locally on the visitor's device and are not transmitted to or stored by The Soma Script.
- The Field Guide companion app may use local storage, browser cache, and a service worker so records can remain available on the device and the app can function offline. These technologies are used for local function, not tracking.
- The Site itself does not collect or store full payment-card numbers. Checkout, payment, and digital delivery are provided by outside services, which may include Gumroad, Payhip, BookFunnel, payment processors available through those platforms, and other retailers or fulfillment providers identified at the point of purchase or delivery.
We will update this Policy before adding analytics, advertising or tracking tools, a newsletter, user accounts, cloud synchronization, server-side storage of Field Guide or Breath-tool activity, direct card processing, or another feature that materially changes how personal information is collected or used.
3. Information We Collect
A. Information you send by email
When you email us, we receive the information contained in your message. This may include your email address, name, subject line, message, attachments, and any other information you choose to provide.
We use email correspondence to respond to general questions, permissions and rights inquiries, media inquiries, practitioner or educational inquiries, purchase or delivery questions, privacy requests, and other legitimate business communications.
B. Technical information processed to deliver and secure the Site
The Site is hosted by an outside hosting provider. The provider may automatically process limited technical information needed to deliver, protect, and troubleshoot the Site, such as an IP address, browser and device information, requested page or asset, referring page, request date and time, and diagnostic, access, or security logs.
The Soma Script does not use this technical information for behavioral advertising, targeted advertising, personal profiling, or cross-site tracking. The hosting provider controls its own security and operational retention practices under its privacy policy and service terms.
C. Local Breath-tool and Field Guide activity
The Breath tool and Field Guide companion app operate locally in the visitor's browser or installed web app. Depending on the tool, local information may include breathing mode and timing, unfinished or completed traces, cues, body signals, fear meanings, commands, reactions, return steps, reachable actions, dates, and preferences.
The Soma Script does not receive, store, view, analyze, or create a server-side history of this local activity. There is no cloud backup or account synchronization. Clearing browser data, resetting the browser, changing devices, or uninstalling the app may permanently delete local records. The Soma Script cannot recover information stored only on a visitor's device.
Because Field Guide entries may contain sensitive personal reflections, visitors should protect access to their devices. If a visitor copies, exports, emails, screenshots, or otherwise shares local information, the copy is governed by the privacy and security practices of the destination chosen by the visitor.
D. Purchases, payments, and digital delivery
The Site may link to or open an outside checkout, retailer, payment, or digital-delivery service. Those providers collect information directly under their own terms and privacy policies. Information collected by an outside provider may include a purchaser's name, email address, billing address, country or region, IP address, device information, product purchased, payment information, tax information, order identifier, transaction status, refund or dispute information, and delivery activity.
Depending on the provider and transaction, The Soma Script may receive limited order and fulfillment information, such as a purchaser's name, email address, country or region, product purchased, order identifier, transaction status, refund status, or delivery information. We use that information for fulfillment, customer support, refunds, accounting, tax, fraud prevention, and legal records.
Payment-card details are entered through the outside checkout or payment provider. The Soma Script does not receive or store a purchaser's full payment-card number. The outside platform or payment processor may handle payment security, taxes, refunds, chargebacks, and related transaction functions under its own policies.
4. Sensitive Information and Trauma-Related Messages
The Site and its local tools are designed for publishing, education, reflection, and general information. The Soma Script does not ask visitors to send medical records, therapy records, diagnoses, crisis details, private trauma histories, confidential client information, or other highly sensitive personal information by email.
Please leave those details out of ordinary email. Email is not a secure clinical, medical, legal, or emergency channel, and this inbox is not continuously monitored.
If you voluntarily include health, trauma, or other sensitive information in an email, that information becomes part of the correspondence we receive. We limit our handling of it to what is reasonably necessary and legally permitted to read and respond, manage records, protect rights or safety, or comply with law. We do not use sensitive information for advertising, profiling, analytics, or to infer characteristics about visitors.
The Soma Script does not provide crisis care, psychotherapy, medical treatment, diagnosis, or legal representation through the Site or by email.
5. How We Use Personal Information
We may use personal information to:
- operate, maintain, deliver, troubleshoot, and secure the Site;
- respond to correspondence, privacy requests, and support questions;
- manage permissions, rights, media, educational, and publishing inquiries;
- manage purchases, refunds, delivery questions, disputes, and transaction records received from outside providers;
- maintain accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, and legal records;
- investigate misuse, security issues, or violations of our Terms of Use;
- comply with legal obligations and lawful requests;
- protect the rights, property, and security of The Soma Script, the Site, visitors, customers, and others; and
- carry out another purpose that we explain when information is collected or that you authorize.
The Soma Script does not currently operate an email newsletter or send marketing email through its own mailing list. Outside checkout, retailer, or delivery providers may send receipts, service messages, account messages, delivery instructions, or optional marketing communications under their own policies and the choices available on their platforms.
6. Legal Bases Where Applicable
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process personal information on one or more of the following grounds:
- to perform a contract or take steps at your request, including purchases, delivery, refunds, and transaction-related correspondence;
- for legitimate interests in operating and securing the Site, responding to communications, maintaining appropriate business records, preventing fraud or misuse, and protecting legal rights, where those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests;
- to comply with legal obligations;
- to protect vital interests where permitted by law; and
- with consent where consent is required.
We do not intentionally seek health information or other special-category data. If such information is sent to us voluntarily, we process it only when and to the extent a condition permitted by applicable law is available, such as explicit consent where validly obtained, protection of vital interests, establishment or defense of legal claims, or another applicable exception.
7. Cookies, Local Storage, Offline Cache, and Tracking
The Site currently does not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, advertising pixels, or cross-site tracking technologies controlled by The Soma Script.
The Site may use essential browser functions needed to display pages and run local features. The Breath tool and Field Guide companion app may use local storage, temporary browser memory, browser cache, and a service worker on the visitor's device. These technologies support local preferences, saved records, and offline function. The information stored through those local features is not transmitted to The Soma Script.
Outside checkout, payment, delivery, or retailer services may use their own cookies, pixels, local storage, analytics, fraud-prevention tools, or similar technologies after a visitor follows a link, opens a checkout, or uses those services. Their practices are governed by their own privacy policies and cookie controls.
Because The Soma Script does not sell personal information or use it for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising, the current Site does not require a separate sale or targeted-advertising opt-out mechanism. If those practices change, we will update this Policy and provide any controls required by applicable law.
8. How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose personal information only as reasonably necessary in the following circumstances:
Hosting and technical providers. Our hosting and technical providers may process limited information needed to deliver, maintain, troubleshoot, and secure the Site.
Email provider. Our email provider processes messages so correspondence can be transmitted, stored, and answered.
Purchase, payment, retailer, and delivery providers. Gumroad, Payhip, BookFunnel, payment processors, retailers, and other outside providers may process transactions, deliver products, manage refunds or disputes, prevent fraud, or provide download assistance. We may receive or exchange limited order and fulfillment information needed for those purposes.
Professional advisers. We may disclose information to accountants, insurers, technical advisers, or legal advisers where reasonably necessary to operate and protect the business.
Legal and security reasons. We may disclose information where required by law, legal process, or a valid government request, or where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or threats to rights or safety.
Business transfer. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or similar business transaction, subject to applicable law.
With permission. We may disclose information when you request or authorize the disclosure.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for targeted advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use private correspondence, reader emails, Field Guide entries, or personal stories as testimonials or marketing material without separate, explicit permission.
9. Data Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including:
- correspondence, for as long as needed to respond, manage follow-up, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes, or protect rights;
- order and transaction information, for as long as needed for fulfillment, refunds, accounting, tax, fraud prevention, chargebacks, and legal obligations;
- technical and security records, for the period maintained by the relevant hosting or technical provider for delivery, diagnostics, security, and abuse prevention; and
- legal and compliance records, for as long as required or permitted by law.
We may retain information longer where required by law, needed to establish or defend legal claims, or necessary to prevent fraud or abuse. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it.
The Soma Script does not retain Breath-tool or Field Guide activity on its servers because that activity remains on the visitor's device. The visitor controls the local retention of that information through the browser, device, or installed web app.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No website, email system, service provider, device, or internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.
Please use ordinary email only for information suitable for that channel. Enter payment details only through the outside provider's checkout. Protect devices that contain local Field Guide entries, especially when devices are shared or accessible to other people.
11. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights concerning your personal information. These may include rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or information about how data is used; to object to certain processing; to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; or to appeal certain decisions concerning a privacy request.
To make a privacy request, email theodor@thesomascript.com with the subject line "Privacy Request." We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and locate the relevant records. We will respond as required by applicable law.
A request to The Soma Script covers information held by The Soma Script. For information controlled independently by Gumroad, Payhip, BookFunnel, a payment processor, a retailer, or another outside service, you may also need to contact that provider directly.
If applicable law gives you a right to appeal a decision concerning a privacy request, reply to the decision email and ask for review. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
12. International Visitors and Data Transfers
The Soma Script is located in the United States. Personal information may be processed in the United States or in other countries where our hosting, email, purchase, payment, delivery, retailer, or professional service providers operate. Those countries may have data-protection laws that differ from the laws where you live.
Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we or the relevant provider rely on an approved transfer mechanism, an adequacy decision, contractual safeguards, or another lawful basis made available under applicable law.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland, or another jurisdiction with additional privacy rights may contact us using the email above. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
13. Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent personal information to us, contact us so we can take reasonable steps to delete it.
14. Outside Websites and Current Service Providers
The Site may link to or open outside purchase, payment, delivery, retailer, social, or informational services. We do not control those services or their privacy practices. Review the privacy policy and checkout disclosures of an outside service before providing personal information.
Current or anticipated providers may include:
- Netlify for website hosting and delivery;
- Gumroad or Payhip for external checkout, order processing, and customer transactions;
- Stripe, PayPal, or another payment gateway made available through an outside checkout provider;
- BookFunnel for digital-book delivery and download assistance; and
- other retailers or fulfillment providers identified at the point of purchase or delivery.

15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the Site, local tools, service providers, business practices, or legal requirements. The revised version will appear on the Site with a new "Last updated" date.
We will update this Policy before launching analytics, advertising or tracking tools, a newsletter, user accounts, cloud synchronization, server-side storage of Breath-tool or Field Guide activity, direct card processing, or another material change in data practices.
